Joseph R. Kroblin, 93, of Council Bluffs and formerly of Sumner and Tripoli, died Tuesday, May 28, 2013, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo following a short illness that began while visiting the area.
Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 31, 2013, at Faith United Church of Christ Cemetery in Tripoli with Rev. Craig Henderson officiating. Friends may call from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 30, 2013, at Rettig Funeral Home in Tripoli.
Joseph Roland, son of Earl and Emma Jarchow Kroblin, was born April 12, 1920, at Sumner, Iowa. He graduated from Sumner High School in 1937, and served with the U.S. Army during World War II. On June 30, 1946, he was united in marriage with Marilyn Ducker at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Joe retired from the U.S. Postal Service after forty years of service in 1982. He was a longtime resident of Council Bluffs where he was a member of the United Church of Christ. His favorite hobby was woodworking.
Joe is survived by one son, Jeff (Judy) Kroblin of Olathe Kansas; four grandchildren, Alan King of Kansas City, Missouri, Sherri (Steve) Rothmeyer of McCook, Nebraska, Shelley Petersen of Des Moines, and Tom King, also of Des Moines; eight great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn, who died November 26, 2012, and two sisters.
